Mann Hosts Board Appreciation Breakfast
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Horace Mann Elementary School hosted the district's annual Board Recognition Breakfast to honor and thank members of the School Board of Education.  The breakfast event, held in the school library, featured Kindergarten students performing a special song.   The board members and guests then toured the school's new Adirondack-style courtyard, which was recently created after the school received a $5,000 "Toolbox for Education" grant from Lowe's.  The courtyard has a new covered deck, Adirondack chairs and children's picnic tables.

Following the courtyard tour, the group visited Mrs. Sullivan's fourth-grade classroom to see how students use technology in their daily instruction.

On behalf of the Board of Education, several employee groups donated funds which went towards a supply of board games for the Horace Mann library. The games will be especially helpful during the school's regular family game nights.
