Assistant Superintendent for Administration 
A native of Binghamton and a graduate of Binghamton North High School, Mr. Steven Deinhardt has utilized his leadership skills in the classroom, on the playing field and as a district administrator to make a difference in the Binghamton schools.
Mr. Deinhardt received a B.S. degree in Physical Science from Ithaca College in 1975. In 1979, he earned his M.S. from the State University of New York at Cortland in 1979, and his Certificate of Advanced Study from SUNY-Cortland in 1989.
From 1975 through 1991, he worked as a physical education teacher in the Binghamton City School District. In 1991, he was named Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics, a position he held until 2002, when he assumed his current role as the district's Assistant Superintendent for Administration.
In addition to his accomplishments as an educator, Mr. Deinhardt has garnered tremendous respect for his work as a high school football coach. He was Head Coach for the Binghamton High School Patriots varsity football team from 1985 to 2000, earning eight Division I titles, four Sectional titles, and the New York State Championship in 1985. He was honored as the New York State Coach of the Year, the 1991 All Metro Coach of the Year, and the Ernie Davis All Star Champions Head Coach in 1996. He was elected to the Section IV Hall of Fame in 2006.
In his current position, Mr. Deinhardt develops and administers the districtwide budget and long-range financial planning. He supervises all business functions of the district, including business management, transportation, buildings and grounds, and food service operations. He oversees all aspects of districtwide capital improvements, including the $37 million EXCEL aid-funded school improvements. He chairs committees related to student attendance, discipline and performance, and co-chairs the districtwide committee for instructional technology. He works with the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction in developing the Contract for Excellence funding plan. He acts as the district's chief information officer, and coordinates districtwide emergency response, safety and risk management. He performs annual professional reviews for administrative personnel, and assists the Superintendent as needed.
