To qualify for district-provided transportation, students must meet the following requirements based on the distance from home to school:
Grades K-6: 1 mile
Grades 6-8: 1.5 miles
Grades 9-12: 2 miles
Under NYS law, parents who want transportation for their children to private and parochial schools must request this transportation by April 1st each year. New residents moving into the district should submit a transportation request as soon as possible.

Bus Passes with photo ID are required for middle and high school students who will be taking the bus. Bus pass photos for the 2008-2009 school year are taken Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the first floor of 98 Oak Street (D building of BHS). All students in grades 9-12 attending Seton Catholic Central High School also need bus passes.
If you attend BHS and are unsure if you need a new photo, please call 762-8118.
For elementary students, individual schools will distribute non-photo ID cards in September to bus-riding students.

Many of our students ride the bus to and from school each day. The greatest bus safety risk for children is not riding the bus, but approaching and leaving the bus. Please teach children to follow these safety rules for riding the bus:
-
Get to the bus stop at least 5 minutes early.
-
When the bus approaches, stay at least 3 giant steps (6 feet) away from the curb.
-
Wait until the bus stops, the door opens, and the driver says it's OK to board.
-
If you have to cross the street to board, walk alongside the bus at least 5 giant steps (10 feet) before crossing in front of the bus, and be sure the driver sees you.
-
Never walk behind the bus.
-
If you drop something near the bus, tell the driver. Don't try to pick it up -- the driver might not see you.
It is also important that students obey the bus rules for behavior. Remind children to stay in their seats, listen to the driver, and follow the rules.
